SMOKING HABIT AND SMOKING PROHIBITION
Last year, smoking habit was hot topic in Turkey. To prevent smoking habit and to cut down smoking habit, Government prohibited smoking in somewhere and government has fined people for smoking cigarette in there since last year. However, smoking prohibition didn’t work exactly for cutting down smoking habit.
Firstly, government prohibited selling cigarette children who was under 18 years old. Actually, it was very beneficial for preventing smoking habit in children but it didn’t work. Because some small shops sold cigarette children who was under 18 years old. And government didn’t prevent this so children still continue smoking.
Secondly, government prohibited smoking cigarette in hospitals and schools. Everybody also supported this. Because people who didn’t smoke , didn’t like people who smoked and it irritated them. So they supported this prohibition but this prohibition but this prohibition also didn’t work exactly. For example; in my high school my friends and my teachers who smoked, started to smoke outside in break time after this prohibition. In short this prohibition also didn’t work for cutting dow smoking.
Lastly, government prohibited smoking in close areas (especially in cafes and bars) and government fined people for smoking in these areas. But it also didn’t work because people who smoke cigarette, started to smoke outside of the cafes and the bars . and this situation bothered people. Some people may say that it is work , people don’t smoke in close areas now. But it isn’t work because people continue smoking.
In conclusion, although government prohibit smoking, people continue smoking. Even they don’t smoke in close areas, they can smoke outside and they continue to poison themselves.
